OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMMES.

COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMMES

  • GROOMING SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS, FUTURE-READY LEADERS. THE AMBER LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME TAKES STUDENTS ON A JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY. OUR APPROACH DEVELOPS STUDENTS IN 3 KEY AREAS; LEADING SELF BY UNEARTHING OUR POTENTIAL, LEADING OTHERS WITH A FOCUS ON TEAMWORK, AND LEADING COMMUNITY TO CREATE SUSTAINED IMPACT.

  • CREATING CHANGE IN COMMUNITY IS MOST IMPACTFUL WHEN STUDENTS ARE CONNECTED TO THE REALITIES ON-THE-GROUND. WE SEEK TO MOVE STUDENTS FROM GAINING AWARENESS TO NURTURING EMPATHY BY DRAWING THEM INTO A RELATIONALLY-DRIVEN JOURNEY WHILE DISCOVERING CAPACITY IN COMMUNITY.

  • THE ASSET-BASED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (ABCD) PROGRAMME SEEKS TO INSPIRE AND MOBILISE PARTICIPANTS FROM CONVERSATION AND IDEATION INTO OWNERSHIP AND TAKING EMPOWERED ACTION THROUGH SOCIAL IMPACT INITIATIVES. PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ABCD WITH EXPOSURE TO REAL-WORLD CASE STUDIES, METHODOLOGIES IN COMMUNITY MAPPING AND THE APPLICATION OF RELEVANT STRATEGIES TO THEIR COMMUNITY PROJECTS.

  • DEVELOPING A COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN IS CRITICAL IN RALLYING SUPPORT FOR GROUND-UP INITIATIVES BUT IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED. BOOST THE EFFICACY OF COMMUNITY PROJECTS BY LEARNING TO STRATEGISE FOR IMPACT, FROM CONCEPTUALISATION TO EXECUTION, USING PROVEN APPROACHES AND FRAMEWORKS.

  • NEW GLOBAL CHALLENGES HAVE GIVEN RISE TO NEW SOCIAL ISSUES AND AMPLIFIED EXISTING ONES. WE MUST CONTINUALLY ADAPT SOLUTIONS TO OUR EVER-CHANGING ENVIRONMENT TO SUCCEED IN SERVING THE COMMUNITY AND SOCIETY AT LARGE. THE NEED FOR CREATIVITY AND CRITICAL THINKING IS GREATER THAN EVER AND PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN HOW TO TAKE AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO SOLVE SOCIAL PROBLEMS.

  • ZOOM FATIGUE IS GROWING WITH INCREASED ONLINE LEARNING AND VIRTUAL MEETINGS. HOW CAN WE MAKE LEARNING ENGAGING AND CAPTIVATING? STORYTELLING HAS BEEN PROVEN TO POSITIVELY IMPACT OUR BRAINS, FORMING A SENSE OF CONNECTEDNESS AND EMPATHY. LEARN ABOUT SOCIAL ISSUES THROUGH CAPTIVATING IMPACT DOCUMENTARY FILMS COUPLED WITH EDUCATIONAL KITS DESIGNED FOR PARTICIPANTS TO REFLECT ON, AND APPLY, KEY TAKEAWAYS TO THEIR PERSONAL LIVES OR IMPACT PROJECTS. LEARN MORE ABOUT AIR AMBER’S SOCIAL IMPACT FILM CLUB.

SKILLS-BASED PROGRAMMES

  • GALVANISING AUDIENCES TO INSPIRE CHANGE IN A CONTENT-CLUTTERED CULTURE HAS PROVEN TO BE A KEY CHALLENGE FOR CHANGEMAKERS. BE EQUIPPED WITH THE REQUISITE SKILLS TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD THROUGH STORYTELLING. THIS PROGRAMME SEEKS TO INSPIRE PARTICIPANTS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES, EMPOWER THEM WITH THE KNOWLEDGE TO BUILD COMPELLING NARRATIVES, AND PROVIDE PRACTICAL TIPS TO SPEAK WITH CONFIDENCE.

  • SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS DOCUMENTARY FILMS SHED LIGHT ON ISSUES THAT AUDIENCES CAN PERSONALLY CONNECT WITH THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE REAL CHANGE. ITS IMPACT IS EVEN MORE PROFOUND FOR FILMMAKERS BEHIND THE CAMERA WHO HELP TELL THAT STORY. THIS COURSE INTRODUCES PARTICIPANTS TO THE EXCITING WORLD OF DOCU FILMMAKING AND HOW THEY CAN GET STARTED BY PROVIDING PRACTICAL TECHNIQUES IN STORYTELLING, INTERVIEWING AND FILMING.

  • THE ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATE AND COLLABORATE ARE DEFINING TRAITS OF THE FUTURE-READY WORKER. PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO PRACTICE THE ABILITY TO FACILITATE GROUP DISCUSSIONS AND INSTITUTE ACTIVE REFLECTION IN THEIR LEARNING PROCESS. SIMPLE FRAMEWORKS WILL BE PROVIDED TO HELP NAVIGATE DIFFICULT DISCUSSIONS INTO PURPOSEFUL DIALOGUE.

  • COVID-19 HAS ALTERED OUR PRIMARY MODE OF COMMUNICATION. THE NEW NORM HAS NECESSITATED MORE VIRTUAL INTERACTION AND IT IS CRITICAL TO LEARN WAYS TO MEANINGFULLY ENGAGE AUDIENCES IN AN ONLINE, PHYSICAL OR HYBRID SETTING. LEARN PRACTICAL WAYS TO HEIGHTEN ENGAGEMENT AND APPLY THESE BASIC FUNDAMENTALS IN COMMUNITY PROJECTS OR SOCIAL IMPACT INITIATIVES.

  • ENGAGE IN IMAGINATIVE AND HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES USING GIANT ‘LEGO’ BLOCKS THAT SEEK TO SPARK CREATIVITY AND TEAMWORK AMONG PARTICIPANTS. THESE ARE EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITIES TO CREATE OWNERSHIP IN THE TEAM BY CHALLENGING PARTICIPANTS TO ENVISION PERSONAL AND GROUP GOALS IN VARIOUS CONTEXTS SUCH AS ACADEMIC PURSUITS, COMMUNITY SERVICE, CAREER ASPIRATIONS, AND MORE.

  • MANY MOTIVATED AND INSPIRED INDIVIDUALS HOPE TO CREATE POSITIVE CHANGE IN SOCIETY BUT ARE NOT ABLE TO TRANSLATE IDEAS INTO ACTION. WHAT IF WE HAVE ACCESS TO THE TOOLS THAT COULD GUIDE US THROUGH THAT PROCESS? BRING IMPLEMENTABLE IDEAS TO LIFE THROUGH THIS PROGRAMME, WHICH INCLUDES A CURATED REPOSITORY OF TOOLS FOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS AT VARIOUS STAGES FROM CONCEPTUALISATION TO EXECUTION.

FEATURED PROJECTS.

Singapore University of Social Sciences
Team-Building & Social Impact

As part of the university’s drive to re-imagine its orientation process, we designed and ran a uniquely crafted programme for 600 undergraduates to explore social impact through the power of film. Participants learned the basics of filmmaking from award-winning documentarian, Dr Thomas Morgan, before heading out and working in teams to capture stories in the community!

Singapore International Foundation
Social Innovation Workshop

International journalists from the region engaged seniors at our Intergenerational Innovation Centre to co-develop several products. In intergenerational teams, participants built electronic ferris wheels, roasted their own blend of coffee, and added to our community heritage wall by colouring Peranakan-themed magnetic tiles together. Participants had the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of these innovations and published articles to share the experience back home!

Multiple Community Partners
Social Impact Learning Festival

In an effort to re-frame and shift how youth perceive marginalised communities, we organised a Learning Festival that celebrates capacity in all individuals; where beneficiaries contribute by teaching a skill to 300 youth participants. In collaboration with 10 community partners, students learned illustration with a deaf artist, poetry with a migrant worker, concrete crafting with youth ex-offenders, art therapy with a former Nepalese prison child, theatre with seniors, and more!

Ministry of Education (MOE)
CCE National Camp

Together with the Ministry of Education, we envisioned our dream for Singapore with 200 students at the Uniformed Groups National Camp. Participants had the challenge of creatively constructing structures that represented both their personal and collective aspirations themed around ‘Our People, Our Home’, ‘Our Hopes, Our Aspirations’, and ‘Our Spirit, Our Strength’. Majulah Singapura!

Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary)
Intergenerational Innovation

Young minds and wise minds innovate together with us! In collaboration with our partners, we piloted 9 intergenerational innovations at 12 different eldercare centres involving a total of 700 youth and elderly. Our co-innovators tested a range of ideas ranging from huge building blocks to virtual reality experiences and even DIY science experiments!

Methodist Girls’ School (Primary)
Interactive Storytelling Workshop

We had such a wonderful time with the young ladies of Methodist Girls School (Primary) crafting stories themed around Grace and Gratitude to celebrate the school’s 130th Anniversary. Our young participants had the chance to hear from Alberto Munoz Najar and the captivating tales of his community in Peru, learned the fundamental principles of impactful storytelling, and authored beautifully written stories, which they also illustrated.
